Using a Light Meter for Bridal Portraits / Bride in dress

In portrait photography, getting the right exposure is critical. Although an image that is underexposed or overexposed can often be improved in printing or in Photoshop, it most often will never be as good as it could have been were it properly exposed. In wedding photography, where you have white dresses and black suits, it is even more critical to be spot-on with your exposures. As you might imagine, metering is the second most important element in portrait photography, lighting being the first.

This lesson examines both reflective and incident metering principles, illustrates some valuable metering techniques, and even throws in a little lighting as well.
